How to be a Good Netizen?

Technology is the reason why our lives nowadays are way easier than before. Internet can be considered as a fruit of technology and we will be talking about the proper behavior in the internet.

One of the best for this is the way on how we communicate to people who are far from us. Back then, we were sending mail to our loved ones so that we can update them on what was happening to us and that would take a long period of time. Now, through the use of the internet, we can email to people, or just chat them on facebook messenger and get a reply instant!

However, despite the success of internet, there are still disadvantages in the internet, and that is because of some netizens who are taking the internet for granted. A netizen is a person who actively participate in he online community in the internet.

In this digital world, people are not afraid to throw nasty comments on a person because it does not have face-to-face interaction. As a result, cyberbullying, trolling, spreading fake news, and many more issues have popped up.

In order to be a better netizen, here are some netiquettes:

Be aware what you say. For example, you put a comment on your friend's post in a social networking site, you should be mindful if they might misinterpret. The words that you use are important and the punctuation marks will be a good help.

Be aware what you post online. Before posting online, you ask yourself if "is this worth sharing/posting?", "am I not going to hurt someone with this?", and "does it make any sense?".

Do not share fake news. It is easier to share fake news in today's internet. Spreading fake
news does not give anything good to our society.

Be mindful what you chat or send to a person even he/she is a friend. We should not chat something nasty or send something sexual because we're living in the generation of screenshots! Don't do anything that could ruin your dignity.

Lastly, do not engage to  internet crimes. Plagiarism, piracy, and cyberbullying are examples of internet crimes.

Imagine the internet if we post things that are inspirational, and does not show hatred. We share articles about health, about helping someone, and that just make any sense. We promote different things for the betterment of all people. That sounds good, right?
